Ibiza - one of the most famous holiday destinations in the world, which also just happens to be one of the most beautiful islands you'll find anywhere. Verdant rolling hills and open plains merge into beaches of golden sand dipping into the azure Mediterranean. Although it has consistently been one of the most popular of all holiday destinations for Britons for decades, the island has retained its historic traditional character by keeping purpose-built holiday resorts to the coast and letting the rest of the island carry on undisturbed. No matter what tyoe of holiday you like, you'll be well catered for in Ibiza. From the sun, sand and all-night music of the resorts to the mediaeval villages and orchards inland, wild partying to culture and architecture, you'll find it all in Ibiza.
20km west of Ibiza Town, the resort area known as San Antonio Bay is less frantic than its namesake across the harbour, but offers non-stop fun for families and young people. The Bay tends to attract a wider cross-section of people. Its beaches are better than the town’s and it's still very convenient for the town’s nightlife. There’s accommodation to suit most tastes, some of it home to a lot of young people in high season. It’s lively here, but doesn’t quite reach the dizzy heights of the town’s truly party atmosphere.
Beaches in San Antonio Bay
There are a few small and gently sloping beaches in the resort, offering water-sports in high season. Many more beaches can be reached by ferry or car, of which Cala Bassa, Cala Conta, and Cala Tarida are all worth a visit.
Shopping in San Antonio Bay
San Antonio Bay is ideal for souvenir shopping and beach wear, however, San Antonio town offers a greater selection of local ceramics, leather goods and jewellery for the more serious shopper.
Nightlife
The Bay is still very convenient for the town’s nightlife: buses and ferries circle the bay, and bicycles and cars can be hired. San Antonio town centre has a variety of bars and clubs, while those seeking a more relaxed atmosphere will be content with what San Antonio Bay has to offer.
Local Specialities
Gourmet restaurants to suit a variety of tastes with both international and local cuisine available, as well as a number of fastfood outlets and lively bars - it's all here.
